On the Way to Aachen: 1.5 MWh Sodium-Ion BESS Shipped to Germany

Megalion’s 750 kVA / 1.5 MWh sodium-ion battery energy storage container passed factory acceptance test and departed for RWTH Aachen University in Germany, supporting the M5Bat research platform to verify sodium-ion storage performance under real operating scenarios.

Megalion achieves another milestone in sodium-ion energy storage technology.
Our 750 kVA / 1.5 MWh sodium-ion battery energy storage container has successfully completed final factory testing and is now en route to Aachen, Germany.

This energy storage system will support the expansion of the M5Bat research platform at RWTH Aachen University. It enables comprehensive evaluation of sodium-ion technology under real-world operating conditions, alongside other mainstream energy storage technologies.

Core Significance of the Project

  • Demonstrates Megalion’s robust capability to supply megawatt-hour scale sodium-ion BESS products
  • Accelerates the transformation of sodium-ion technology from laboratory R&D to practical large-scale commercial deployment
  • Deepens technical cooperation with top European research institutions and promotes sodium-ion energy storage adoption across Europe

We look forward to the arrival, on-site installation and commissioning of the sodium-ion energy storage system in Aachen.

From manufacturing to field deployment — advancing sodium-ion energy storage for Europe’s energy transition.
